Salumi d’Italia 2017 awards the Galloni Barrique
The Guide, presented today at the Leopolda station in Florence as part of the Pitti Image special events, is at its second edition and complements the better known Guides dedicated to Wines and Restaurants, which over the years have become a point of reference for Italian wine and food. The selection of Galloni Barrique is the outcome of 8 months of tastings by a committee of specialists, who examined the best Italian products recommended by renowned chefs, experts and food lovers.
As the curators of the guide explain, “the section that includes Barrique Galloni focusses on products that may be less known because they do not have a large market, but are capable of giving unexpected emotions to the palate. The selection is limited to “cured meats from small productions, originating from breeders obsessed with the care and breeding of livestock, products that may be difficult to find but that are of the highest quality, requiring research and work that will be certainly rewarded by their qualities. No Designation of Origin, therefore, but only outstanding products. Uncommon cured meats that deserve to be known and must be brought to the readers’ attention. Extraordinary producers who respect tradition while adding innovative touches to it. Memorable products that are just waiting to be discovered, savoured and shared.” The guides will be on sale at newsagents’ from November 3rd.
